4 DAYS GORILLA TRACKING & GOLDEN MONKEY TREK
(from Kampala or Entebbe)

Day 1

Briefing on the safari, transfer to Bwindi National Park, southwestern Uganda for your gorilla trek. Meet and greet with our local guide over breakfast, then drive heading to southwestern Uganda. Enroute, there will be a stop at a community known for making local drums and crafts, with an opportunity to purchase local fruit from the market. Then we will proceed to the Equator. During this nine hour journey we will pass by mountains, tropical rainforest and bamboo forest, and will have the opportunity to take photographs of magnificent scenery in Africa as we follow the pathway of the sun.

Day 2

Gorilla trekking (Bwindi National Park), tracking the mountain gorillas and other primates.
After breakfast we proceed for the morning briefing before enjoying the highlight of the trip – gorilla trekking, which may last the entire day. We trek the gorillas through the rainforest and bamboo covered slopes, accompanied by a guide and trackers, in search of a mountain gorilla family. Expect to walk long distances in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas. Preparing well, and being in good physical condition, is a prerequisite for being able to enjoy this exceptional excursion. While most of today’s forests are no more than 12,000 years old, Bwindi’s vegetation has been weaving itself into tangles for at least 25,000 years, and as a result, there are incredible numbers of different species which thrive there.

Day 3

Golden monkeys tracking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After breakfast we transfer to the Mgahinga National Park headquarters for briefing before beginning the hike over volcanic terrain in search for Golden Monkeys in the bamboo forests.

Mgahinga National Park shares boarders with Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga National Park in DR Congo. Mgahinga is also the most scenic as it is situated next to Muhavura, Gahinga and Sabinyo, the three volcanoes.

Day 4

Bwindi-Kampala/Entebbe
After breakfast we return to Kampala, then Entebbe International Airport, with lunch enroute before your evening departure flight home.

This trip could be extended to 5 or 6 days for those wishing to spend more time in this paradise in Africa.
